Is Suicide the Unforgivable Sin?

John 3:18 “He who believes in [Jesus] is not condemned [they have been forgiven and given the righteousness of Christ]; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (bracketed information added)

While suicide is a sin, It is NOT the unforgivable sin. (There is only one unforgivable sin and it is rejecting Jesus. Read: What is the unpardonable (unforgivable) sin? What if I commit it?) Suicide is the taking of human life. It is a self-inflicted murder. However, just like any sin, it also has been paid for by Jesus. Jesus died to pay for ALL sins. And for those who belong to Him, all their sins are forgiven.

Therefore, if you are missing a friend, relative, or loved one who had been redeemed and regenerated by Jesus but committed suicide, their sin did not condemn them.

Every one of the believer’s sins were paid for by Jesus on the cross. When Jesus saved the person, the person received God’s forgiveness for every sin (past, present, and future), including the final sin of suicide. Jesus has promised that He has prepared a place for those who belong to Him and that He will come to receive them unto Himself (John 14:1-4). This was not a conditional promise. Jesus promised that no one can take one of His own out of His hand (John 10:28). That means that no sin a redeemed person commits will cause them to lose their eternal salvation. No one who belongs to Jesus will ever perish.

For a person who does not belong to Jesus and commits suicide, they face the consequences of dying in unforgiven sin. God will judge them accordingly. While God can forgive all sins, He cannot overlook any sin. All sin must be paid for. And if someone dies in their sin, they are already condemned.

Jesus would not allow us to commit such treachery against our very own selves, against Him, against Jesus, against the true Son of the living God!

Suicide is real and there are people in the church that have committed suicide. But we serve a loving and forgiving God. A God that knows when one of His children is mentally ill. A man or woman of God who doesn't know or trust God, who is walking in fear and or worry, plus mentally ill, it can happen, I have seen it happen.

But God's Word is what I am standing on. No one can show me in the Word of God that suicide is unforgivable by God. Because it is not in the Word of God. We have been told that it is, but that is not true.

But Sucide is never the answer. Simply put, suicide is a sin. It is never the right thing to take your own life. Don't do it! If you are an unbeliever, God is able to redeem your life and give you a true purpose for living through Jesus Christ. If you are a believer, God has already redeemed your life, and no matter how horrible your current circumstances, God can accomplish great things through the rest of your life.

Yes, suicide might be real but I don't believe we can or should ever justify it. Saul killed himself. Was Saul saved? Some say he was and some say he wasn't. Should Saul have thrown himself on his sword? Was Saul believing in God's ability to save and deliver him or was Saul believing in what Saul could do? I just don't believe that suicide can be justified especially Biblically.

Hanging on the tree was/is seen as disgraceful. Since that person dies before confessing to God; how is he/she forgiven and redeemed? Some people do special rituals to cleanse the person and ask for forgiveness on the person's behalf. What would Jesus do?

Jesus hung on a tree and died for our sins. He became a curse for us. I do believe that we are saved from our past, present and future sin if we are indeed saved and covered by Jesus' blood but how did we become saved? Was that something that we did on our own and then walked away from or was it something Jesus did for us as a gift? Why are some telling Jesus that they did this and that for Him on judgement day and others are saying when did we do this and that for you? There are questions that we aren't going to have an answer for until we meet Jesus in the air and I'm ok with that :)

Thank you all for these Biblical discussions. Luke 23:42,43.
Based on my own experiences, with guidance of Holy Spirit ,sick, drunkard etc are saved miraculously when they confess, believe Him, ask forgiveness to Jesus before they die. One drugs abuser guy told me that he wants to commit suicide but afraid of going to hell, Jesus stopped him he is saved through prayers .So, we have lots of work on this issue , even we are sick, still we can pray from our sick bed to save them . For me I dont want to meet Jesus with empty handed I have promised Him.

[Jesus said,] "I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences." He told [the teachers of religious law] this because they were saying, "He's possessed by an evil spirit."...
