Is Suicide the Unforgivable Sin?

John 3:18 “He who believes in [Jesus] is not condemned [they have been forgiven and given the righteousness of Christ]; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (bracketed information added)

While suicide is a sin, It is NOT the unforgivable sin. (There is only one unforgivable sin and it is rejecting Jesus. Read: What is the unpardonable (unforgivable) sin? What if I commit it?) Suicide is the taking of human life. It is a self-inflicted murder. However, just like any sin, it also has been paid for by Jesus. Jesus died to pay for ALL sins. And for those who belong to Him, all their sins are forgiven.

Therefore, if you are missing a friend, relative, or loved one who had been redeemed and regenerated by Jesus but committed suicide, their sin did not condemn them.

Every one of the believer’s sins were paid for by Jesus on the cross. When Jesus saved the person, the person received God’s forgiveness for every sin (past, present, and future), including the final sin of suicide. Jesus has promised that He has prepared a place for those who belong to Him and that He will come to receive them unto Himself (John 14:1-4). This was not a conditional promise. Jesus promised that no one can take one of His own out of His hand (John 10:28). That means that no sin a redeemed person commits will cause them to lose their eternal salvation. No one who belongs to Jesus will ever perish.

For a person who does not belong to Jesus and commits suicide, they face the consequences of dying in unforgiven sin. God will judge them accordingly. While God can forgive all sins, He cannot overlook any sin. All sin must be paid for. And if someone dies in their sin, they are already condemned.

Before we take our own life, pray, ask Jesus is this is correct. If I kill my self throwing my body to be drawn in the lake, would I see Jesus face to face? What would He say to me when He sees me in heaven and say. I did not call you in yet. Why have you done this to yourself? Did you read My word. Thou shall not kill? What your response would be to Jesus then?

God knows everything... Our days are numbered. Our times are in God’s hands (Psalm 3:15a). God knows the number of our days and months. We cannot live longer than the time God has set (Job 14:5). Before we had even seen our first day or taken our first breath, God had already written in His book of life the number of our days (Psalm 139:16). For in God we live, move and have our being (Acts 17:28a). God created all things, and only by God’s will, do we exist (Rev. 4:11).

However if he had died without repenting then there would have been no forgiveness. I believe it depends on the circumstance .

What happens to the people that are truly saved by God that commit a sin that they have not asked forgiveness for just before they died. What if you (yes you) who are saved died before you got a chance to ask God to forgive you of your sins that you had committed within the last hour of your life or last five minutes of your life? Where will you spend eternity? Are you going to hell or heaven?

‘The righteousness of a righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not stumble because of it in the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous man will not be able to live by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.’

Linda, most people die in their beds and confession of sin on the deathbed is known around the world... What happens to a Christian is that they confess sin daily if not immediately, it becomes a habit... The Lord’s prayer has “forgive us our debts” right after “give us this day our daily bread” — Jesus taught us to pray for forgiveness daily (Matthew 6:9-13)...

I just lost my mother last summer, and she confessed sin on her deathbed (after being an evangelist for over 45 years). She felt, as death was approaching, the need to be even more deeply cleansed... It is common throughout the church ages and even atheists often confess before death...

My goal is to stay as far from sin as I possibly can, to avoid it as much as possible, because of Scriptures like this... “For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:26-29‬ ‭NASB‬‬

We don't live in a perfect world and some Christians don't pray the Lord's prayer daily. God will judge them when they meet Him. We are to pray for them and live our lives as an act of Worship unto God, moment by moment. .

The fact we do not live in a perfect world is exactly why The Holy Spirit wants the church to shine, be without spot or wrinkle.

““Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you. Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭60:1-3‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“That He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:27‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. But you did not learn Christ in this way, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another. B E ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:11-32‬ ‭NASB‬‬

If any of us could live a perfect life then Jesus would have never been born. You are not perfect and you can't live a perfect life (If you could live a perfect life then Jesus would have never been born). There is going to always be something in your life that you and Jesus will be working on to help you get ready to meet God.

My message to you, me, anyone, and everyone, Study, Study, Study the Word of God in depth for yourself. To know God is to love God. To love God is to obey God. You can't truly love God if you don't truly know Him. And the way we get to know God is in His Word. You will not obey God (not for long) if you don't love and know God. You can't obey God in your own strength, you need Jesus' help.

Don't practice sin. Pray for strength to overcome sin. You can't do it in your own strength, you need Jesus. And always remember: We are a work in progress (it will not happen overnight) and it is a process that Jesus will complete in us.

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV): Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

I am a life long learner of the Word of God! I am always trying to learn more about God by living more in God's Word. I am praying for both of us to live in the Word of God, come to know Him better and love Him more. Please pray the same for me. Thank You.

We All need to relax! We are All to rest in Jesus, in what Jesus does, did and will do for us! Can a real, very real child of the living God, made that way through the belief and knowledge of Jesus/God/Yashua truly end one's life by their own free will? I believe No! It could be rather an act that happens which is not on purpose, an accident, but to purposefully try to end our life no matter what we might think is an act against God, a very real act against Jesus and no matter what we might think, I truly don't know or believe that a truly saved person could commit such an act for Jesus would come through for us! Jesus would not allow us to commit such treachery against our very own selves, against Him, against Jesus, against the true Son of the living God! If it happened on accident that would be another story but how, no matter what our minds that are at enmity against Jesus possibly think such things? If we have become the Righteousness of God in Christ, how could we actually commit suicide if Jesus, the One true God of the Universe actually allow us to do so without doing anything to stop us or try to stop us? Doesn't Jesus know what we need that will stop us from killing ourselves?

Be at peace in Jesus! You are both partially right in your beliefs :)

[Jesus said,] "I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences." He told [the teachers of religious law] this because they were saying, "He's possessed by an evil spirit."...
