We understand your concern and the importance of addressing this issue with biblical wisdom and compassion. First, let's consider what the Scriptures say about sickness, faith, and the body.
It is true that we live in a fallen world, and as long as we are in this world, we groan, eagerly waiting for our adoption, the redemption of our body.
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our house which is from heaven, if so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
(2 Corinthians 5:2-4)
Even the Apostle Paul, who had a strong faith, dealt with a physical affliction. He wrote:
Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me. He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
(2 Corinthians 12:8-10)
It is clear that sickness is not always a result of a lack of faith. Paul's thorn in the flesh was not a sign of weak faith but an opportunity for God's power to be manifested in his weakness.
Jesus himself said that in this world, we will have trouble, but we can take heart because he has overcome the world.
These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have distress; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
(John 16:33)
It is not for us to judge or downgrade others who are going through physical afflictions. Instead, we are called to encourage and pray for one another.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up all those who are suffering from sickness and physical afflictions. We pray for your healing touch upon their lives, knowing that you are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
We also pray for those who may be judging or criticizing others for their sickness. Help them to see with your eyes, full of compassion and love. Remind them that it is not our place to judge, but to encourage and build each other up in love.
Help us all to remember that while we live in a fallen world, we serve a risen Savior. Even in our weakness, your power is made perfect.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage everyone to keep their faith in Jesus Christ, for it is by his name that we are saved.
Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
(Acts 4:12)
If anyone coming to God believes that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him, they will be saved.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all. This was the testimony when the time had fully come.
(1 Timothy 2:5-6)
