So, when I'm praying and I'm surrounded with people who are praying in tongues.... sometimes I get the urge to join them, sort of like when you hear a great song and you feel the urge to sing along bubbling in your throat, but end up not getting any words out. Could this be a sign that I'm close to praying in tongues myself in these moments?

Some think it's "required" to pray in tongues, it's evidence of salvation and if you don't you're not even saved!I have a neighbor who believes this.However,I think that's a SPECIFIC gift,Because you also read, "all do not {do this and that}and one of the statements made is "All do not speak in tongues do they?" So I wouldn't say it detracts from your salvation if you don't.
May the Lord bless Sweden and send revival in every single church there is. May the precious Holy Spirit fill their hearts with joy and peace. For the Lord is great and worthy to be praised. If you speak in tongues make sure everyone understands what you are saying. Because the Lord wants to speak to your heart, He wants to bless your life. He wants to take all the burdens your may be carrying and free you from any doubt and fear you may have. Jesus loves you and cares for you. Continue to live in His holy presence, loving Him, praising Him, adoring His holy name. I will sing praises to Your name o Lord, for Your name is great and greatly to be praised. Beautiful song to sing to the Lord. Please, continue to praise Jesus above all things.

I am so glad you are saved by the grace of the Lord. Continue to live in His holy presence. To know the Lord is to love Him with all your heart, mind and soul. Sing praises to Jesus wherever you are. He loves you so much that is the reason He saved your soul and now you are on the right road that leads to heaven. Remember this. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. He will redeem you and save you and heal you when you cry out to Him.

What you've been experiencing sounds like what I've felt during group worship. I'd want to sing or cry out Jesus, but I'd choke up. Because I had experience with sleep paralysis (which fled when I called on Jesus in my mind) when I first got saved, I recognized this as demonic attack. I kept praying through those moments, and He gave me victory to shout out his name and continue the songs!
While it isn't necessary for salvation, speaking in tongues is a way for your spirit to bless God. Speaking in tongues and interpreting is better, because it's a form of prophecy, which enlightens the church. Spiritual gifts are absolutely essential for the church. The bible tells us to earnestly covet the best gifts. If you desire a particular gift, ask the Lord and he will bless you in it!
1 Corinthians 14:1-5 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

NO! Tongues is when you speak in a language that others understand as in Spanish. Meaning in Acts its say they spoke in tongues but all the people around heard them in their own language.
The disciples spoke Hebrews of Aramaic, and those around heard Greek Egyptian, Macedonian etc... meaning while they spoke in there native language the people heard their own native language.

You're right about that instance in Acts, and speaking in a language different from your native tongue is a spiritual gift also, one that I'm desiring and praying for myself. However, it is not the only type of tongues:
1 Corinthians 13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
There are heavenly languages too. When we're all raptured/resurrected, we won't speak languages from the old earth, which passes away.
