We are glad to join you in prayer for your relationship and are thankful to see your desire for God's blessing and guidance. We will pray that God leads you both towards a godly marriage, as it is a sacred union designed by Him. It is important that both of you are believers in Jesus Christ, as it is only through Him that we can approach God. A house divided cannot stand and being in a marriage with separate goals and beliefs can be challenging.
Firstly, let us address the importance of Jesus Christ in your prayer and life. As it is written in the Bible, we believe that it is only through the name of Jesus that we can approach God, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. As it is said, "But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name" - (John 1:12-13 WEB). Therefore, we pray that both of you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that He is at the center of your lives and this relationship.
We also take this moment to remind you of the biblical principles for relationships and marriage. God designed marriage to be a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24 WEB). We encourage you to pursue this relationship in a manner that honors God, maintaining purity and holiness. "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality" (1 Thessalonians 4:3 WEB).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this couple to You. We ask for Your blessing and guidance in their relationship. If it is Your will, direct their path towards a godly marriage and help them to remain faithful to each other. Protect their bond from harmful outside influences and grant them the emotional maturity to compromise and support each other.
We pray that their parents will be open to this union. If there are any hindrances, we ask for Your grace to help them handle the situation with wisdom and understanding. Let this relationship be a testimony of Your love and grace.
Help them to grow together in faith, abstaining from sexual immorality, learning to truly love each other as You have loved us. Guide them as they build a lasting relationship that honors and glorifies Your holy name.
We ask all of this in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
Be encouraged by the words in Psalm 37:4-5 WEB, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this." Keep your hearts focused on God, trusting in Him, and He will guide your paths.
If either of you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so. It is the most important decision you will ever make. "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
