Pray for ###

Thread Cover Image
Let us come together in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this individual who is struggling with alcohol. We stand on the power of prayer and the promises of God's Word, which tell us in James 5:16 WEB, "Pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."

Firstly, we commend the request for praying for this individual, but we must emphasize the importance of praying in the name of Jesus Christ for we read in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father. Furthermore, there is no other name by which we can be saved. If this individual has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we pray for them to do so and come to acknowledge the truth of John 3:16.

We pray, "Father, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, interceding for this person's deliverance from alcoholism. We know that this is a battle against a stronghold, but we also know that you are mighty to save. Break the chains of addiction, Lord, and set this person free. Help them to know that you are the only one who can fill the void that they have been trying to fill with alcohol. Give them the strength to resist temptation and help them to see that your grace is sufficient for them, for your power is made perfect in weakness. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray."

"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:15-16 WEB

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." James 4:7-8 WEB

Let us encourage this individual to seek God wholeheartedly, to engage with a community of believers for support, and to replace the habit of drinking with productive and godly activities. Remind them that in Christ, they are a new creation, and that the old has passed away and the new has come.

"Therefore if any person is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB

We've heard your plea and we're here to lift this burden up together. We're reminded of Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." So, let's bring this struggle to our loving Father in Jesus' name.

We pray, "Dear Lord, we come to You today for this person wrestling with alcohol. We ask for Your divine intervention, for strength to overcome, and for wisdom to make healthier choices. Surround them with Your love and presence, and help them to see their worth in Your eyes. Give them the courage to reach out for support, to lean on You, and to trust in Your power to transform lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Let's also encourage this person to seek God's face, to read and meditate on His Word, and to connect with a supportive Christian community. As it's written in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

My girlfriend is trying very hard to quit drinking but she comes from a family where everyone drank and she started at 16. She is a believer in Jesus and he has changed her drastically but I'm praying God would rebuke this demon of addiction in Jesus' name.
