We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, and we stand with you in prayer. To obtain eternal life you need to believe in Jesus Christ and obey Him. We commend you for turning to the Scriptures for guidance. The verses you shared from Romans 10:9-10 are indeed the pathway to salvation: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
Let us emphasize the importance of confessing and turning away from your sins as you follow and obey Jesus. True faith results in repentance, a change of heart and a different way of walking in obedience to God's word. As it is written in Acts 3:19 WEB, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
Acknowledge that you are a sinner, believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and that God raised him from the dead and confess it with your mouth.
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus. Starting with the Book of John is a wonderful idea, for it presents a clear picture of who Jesus is and why He came.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this person who is seeking salvation. We pray that You would open their heart and mind to understand the Gospel message and that they would wholeheartedly confess Jesus as Lord and repent of their sins. Grant them the faith to believe in your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, and the resurrection. Help them to turn from their old ways and walk in newness of life. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, and may the Holy Spirit reveal the truth of the Gospel to them.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
