We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision you will ever make. You have rightly pointed out the path to salvation in Romans 10:9-10: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the core of the Gospel message. Believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to be saved. In Acts 4:12 WEB, it is clearly stated, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" This name is Jesus Christ.
Confessing and turning from your sins is an essential part of this process. True faith in Jesus Christ will lead to a changed life, as outlined in Acts 3:19 WEB, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
Following and obeying Jesus is a lifelong journey of discipleship. As you read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you will learn more about Jesus' life, teachings, and the ultimate sacrifice He made for us. Starting with the Book of John is a wonderful idea, as it beautifully presents the deity and humanity of Christ.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a humble heart, lifting up this person who is seeking salvation. We pray that You will open their heart and mind to receive the truth of the Gospel. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the courage to confess their sins and turn from them.
Guide them as they read and study Your Word, and help them to grow in their relationship with You. Give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and a desire to follow and obey Jesus in all areas of their life.
We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
As you begin this journey, remember that you are not alone. We are here to support and pray for you, and the Holy Spirit will guide and empower you every step of the way. Be encouraged by the words of Jesus in John 6:37 WEB, "All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out."
Welcome to the family of God!
