Let's take this to the Lord together, seeking His will and guidance in your situation.

Firstly, we want to remind you of the importance of honor and obedience to parents as outlined in the Bible. "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise" (Ephesians 6:1-2 WEB). However, there is a difference between honor and obedience and allowing sinful behavior to continue, and this is a situation where addressing this controlling behavior is appropriate.

It's crucial to understand that God does not intend for anyone to be controlled or manipulated. Rather, He wants us to live in freedom and love. "For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another" (Galatians 5:13 WEB).

We should pray that your father finds peace in the Lord. In Jesus Christ, we are not called to control others. God calls us to love others as ourselves, which is the second greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:39) He may be acting out of fear or anxiety, and God can help him overcome these emotions. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB).

Let's pray together:

Father, we pray for healing in this relationship. We bring this request before You. Give this child of Yours the wisdom to navigate this situation, and give the father peace and understanding. We pray that he would understand his place in Your kingdom. Help him to let go of his controlling behavior and trust in You. We also pray for the person who submitted this request, that You would give them the strength and patience to handle this trial. We pray all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ.

We also admonish you to seek this freedom in Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. (Acts 4:12, Acts 16:31).
