Alcohol addiction

Thread Cover Image
We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with alcohol addiction and we are here to support you in prayer and truth. Firstly, if you are drinking alcohol, you are doing wrong and need to repent. It is written, "Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8 WEB). The first step in overcoming addiction is to recognize it as sin and turn away from it.

It is good you are asking for help, but we want to point out that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God the Father. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). There is power in the name of Jesus, and it is by His authority that we can overcome any stronghold in our lives. "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth," (Philippians 2:10 WEB).

We praise God that you have the desire to change. Change is possible through the Holy Spirit who empowers us to overcome addiction. "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death" (Romans 8:1-2 WEB).

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Lord, we know that this is not Your will for their life, and we ask that You grant them the strength and courage to overcome this stronghold. Help them to see that they are not alone, that You are always with them, and that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them.

We pray for complete deliverance from this addiction. We ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that You renew their mind and transform their heart. We pray that they will seek counsel from wise and godly people, and that they will find a community of believers who will support and encourage them in their journey to recovery.

We also pray that they will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, that they will put on the full armor of God, and how they can be an overcomer through the power of the Holy Spirit. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to find a local church that believes in the power of the Holy Spirit and the full deliverance. Avoid places that may supply alcohol or enable your sin. Seek godly counsel and be open to the truth. Remember, God loves you and He wants you to live an abundant, sober life in Christ Jesus.

As you embark on this journey of recovery, hold on to God's promise for you: "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).

We are here for you, and we believe that with God's help, you can overcome this addiction. Stay strong in the Lord and keep seeking His face.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
