The Beloved of God
Humble Servant of All
Today has been awful. I was turned down for another job. Does God hate me? I feel so abandoned. Why does God seem so distant when I need Him most? I am troubled and I prayed, but there is nothing. I am distressed, so I cry for God to bring relief, but all I hear in reply is silence--a silence so deafening it drowns out every thought but this: God isn't listening, but my thinking is wrong.
1 Peter reminds me that times of distress are common and are for the good of God's children. Amid the rich details of God's glorious grace, resides an affirmation that those who rejoice in their salvation will also experience distress due to various trials. Please let me take solace in knowing that sorrowful times even periods of feeling that God has withdrawn His presence are an integral part of my spiritual experience. God HAS NOT abandoned me, my feelings are incorrect. Other believers have successfully traveled this dark path and can complete the journey as well.
As I am one of God's children, I am promised His presence, though for now I feel alone and without help. I want to rest in knowing God my Father has good reasons for bringing me into this trial. He is committed to making me holy even if it means taking away my happiness for a time. Benefit is gained from the trial, not by ignoring it or fainting under its weight, but by understanding its purpose. When I can acknowledge that God is using the trial to make me aware of His grace in my life and fitting me for eternal glory, praise, and honor, then I will be equipped to endure it even though it brings me into distress and heaviness of soul.
Suffering in silence will make me more obedient, deeping my insight into God's Word and increasing my compassion and effectiveness in ministry. It will teach me to wait patiently on God. My joy will not be dependent on circumstances and I will appreciate God all the more when He restores me. These are the principles that can mold my perspective. Let me learn to respond biblically and not emotionally to me trouble.
O God, I come before you today to ask for a financial blessing to improve my life. My faith has been keeping us strong, but I am weak. I ask for enough money to relieve my financial woes and ease this stress. Give me the means to do your work and spread your love. I have so much to give if I were allowed the chance. I hereby agree with all my prayer warriors that according to Philippians 4:19 and Matthew 18:19 where we see in your Word that you will supply all our needs according to your riches in glory. We are setting ourselves in agreement that our financial need is met according to Your Word. Hear the prayer of your child, O God. And all your people said amen and amen.
