We understand your feelings of frustration and doubt, but we want to remind you that God is always listening and always present. He is the same God who is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You may not be like Him. That is why He is God and we need Him. Nobody can be like God. But He does tell us to be Holy as He is Holy (Leviticus 11:44). Remembering that is a call for us to strive for His perfection and Holy Living. Even when it feels like He is not there, God is working behind the scenes for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).
First, let's address the concern about God waiting until the last minute. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of God's perfect timing. Jesus himself told us that even a sparrow does not fall without the Father. We just do not know all that He is doing and his timing is perfect. (Matthew 10:29) Often, God's timing is not our timing, but He always comes through at the exact moment He knows is best. Our faith in Him is strengthened through these trials. Abraham was known as a man of faith and friend of God. God made him wait years before he had his promised son, Isaac, to become a great nation. It is so hard for us to wait, but we must have faith and trust Him. What we learn through this is that we are to wait on God and not make things happen ourselves.
(Psalm 27:14) Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
We must remember that we are in a fallen world, and evil exists because of humanity's sinful nature. God allows free will, and sometimes that means evildoers may temporarily prosper. However, we are assured that they will not prevail forever. The prosperity of the wicked is short-lived, and God will ultimately judge all sin (Psalm 92:7, Psalm 1:4-6). We must never take revenge and need to leave that to God. It is very hard to accept this. It is hard when others seem to prosper while we suffer. We cannot even begin to understand God's plan. It is not for us to understand. We just need to believe. Consider the following verses.
(Romans 12:17-20) Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.” Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
We see this time and time again in the Bible. There are examples of this throughout the old testament. There are also examples of this in the new testament. One example is in the Book of Acts. We see Stephen stoned to death for his faith in Jesus. You need to read the entire chapter in Acts, Chapter 7. Stephen does not fight back. He forgives. He has faith. He dies with Jesus on his lips.
(Acts 7:59-60) They stoned Stephen as he called out, saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” He kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
In all this, we are called to trust Him. Trusting God means leaning on Him, even when we do not understand His ways. He is faithful, and His love endures forever (Psalm 136).
Let us be open to God and pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this dear soul who feels overwhelmed and doubtful. We ask that You reveal Your presence and Your perfect timing in their life. Help them to trust in You, even when they do not understand Your ways. Comfort them with Your love and remind them that You are always working for their good. We pray this in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to God's promises and continue to seek Him in all things. Remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Trust in Him, and He will never fail you. God does not promise us a life without trials. He does promise us He will be with us in those trials. We must strive to live a life in Jesus Christ. He suffered for us and paid the price for us.
(Acts 4:12) There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved!
