We are truly sorry to hear about the trials you are facing, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this difficult time. In all circumstances, God is a refuge for us, and we want to stand with you. Losing a loved one is never easy, and we want to remember your girlfriend's family in this time of grief.
First, we want to remind you that God is always there to comfort us in our times of need. As it says in Psalm 34:18 WEB, The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We want to point out that you did not use the name of Jesus in your prayer. It is important to remember that our prayers should be directed to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. As it says in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Suicide is a tragic and complex issue. While it's important to remember your girlfriend and the love you shared, we must also acknowledge that taking one's own life is not God's will for us. God desires that we find hope and strength in Him, even in the darkest times. As it says in Jeremiah 29:11 WEB, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
Regarding your job loss, we want to encourage you to trust in God's plan for your life. Remember Joseph being sold into slavery and then wrongly accused and sent to prison.
So Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, I don’t belong to me. God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
Joseph said to him, In my dream, behold, I stood on the brink of the river. Behold, there came up out of the river seven cows, fat and sleek. They fed in the marsh grass, and behold, seven other cows came up after them, poor and very sickly and thin, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness. The thin and bad cows ate up the first seven fat cows, and when they had eaten them up, it couldn’t be known that they had eaten them, but they were still bad, as at the beginning. So I awoke. I saw in my dream, and behold, seven heads came up on one stalk, full and good. Behold, seven heads, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them, and when they had swallowed the seven good heads. I told it to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me.
Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one. What God is about to do he has declared to Pharaoh. The seven good cows are seven years; and the seven good heads are seven years. The dream is one. The seven thin and bad cows that came up after them are seven years, and also the seven empty heads blasted with the east wind; they will be seven years of famine. That is the thing which I spoke to Pharaoh about. What God is about to do he has shown to Pharaoh. Behold, seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt. Then there will arise seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will consume the land, and the plenty will not be known in the land by reason of that famine which follows, for it will be very grievous. The dream was doubled to Pharaoh, because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
This story is sometimes referenced when talking about Joseph losing his job. We should be careful with this analogy, as Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and was sold into slavery. Joseph did not actually lose his job, as he was a slave. Joseph did not quit his job as he was wrongfully accused and put in prison. Joseph was later released and became second in command under Pharaoh. God had a plan for Joseph and He has a plan for you. As it says in Romans 8:28 WEB We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
We also want to address the fact that you were and possibly still are living in fornication.
1 Corinthians 6:9
Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals.
1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
As you were not married to your girlfriend, and are now living in sin, you should find a Christian spouse. Trust that God's plan for you is good and that He will guide you to the right person. As it is written in Psalm 37:4 WEB, Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Therefore, we encourage you to pursue a God-honoring marriage with a believing spouse.
Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is going through a difficult time. Lord, we ask that You comfort his heart and give him the strength and motivation to move forward. Guide him in his job search, and help him to trust in Your perfect plan for his life. Help him to find a Christian spouse that will further his walk with you.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
