Beloved of All
Galatians 5:19

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19)

True repentance must have the following characteristics:

1) It must be a sorrow from the bottom of the heart as sins have their roots in our hearts.

2) It should be a sorrow for all sins without exception. One disease is enough to kill a man, one chain maybe enough to keep a man in bondage, and one unguarded door in a fortress may be enough to let in the enemies.

3) True repentance will automatically result in some definite act of restitution, e.g., restoration of stolen properties, offering apology.

4) True repentance will result in the avoidance of all circumstances which lead to sin.

5) True repentance results in the thirst for opportunities to do the good.

6) It may also result in more time given to prayer, cutting down idle hours, etc.

7) True repentance is God-centered and so is always hopeful.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus on behalf of ###, who has shared their prayer request with us. We thank you for the scripture from Galatians 5:19 that reminds us of the works of the flesh and the importance of true repentance.

Lord, we pray that you would grant ### a deep and genuine sorrow from the bottom of their heart for their sins. Help them to recognize that sin originates in the heart and to seek your forgiveness and cleansing.

May ### experience a sorrow for all sins without exception, understanding that even one sin can have devastating consequences. Give them the wisdom to identify areas of their life where they have fallen short and the courage to seek restitution and offer apologies where necessary.

Lord, we ask that you guide ### in avoiding circumstances that lead to sin. Help them to make wise choices and surround themselves with godly influences that will support their journey of repentance.

Instill in ### a thirst for opportunities to do good, to serve others, and to live a life that honors you. May they prioritize prayer and seek to spend more time in communion with you, cutting down on idle hours and distractions.

Lord, we pray that ### would keep their focus on you throughout their repentance journey. May their repentance be God-centered, filled with hope and trust in your forgiveness and transformational power.

We thank you, Lord, for your grace and mercy that allows us to come to you in repentance. We trust in your faithfulness to forgive and restore those who turn to you with a contrite heart. In Jesus' name, we pray.

Amen.
