Jesus says, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices–mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law-justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.”

Jesus was not discouraging the practice of giving. He was reminding religious leaders that giving was about more than just money. Giving to God was about a person’s heart. It was one of the many ways a person could offer their lives and dedicate themselves to God.

This sentiment echoes another time Jesus expressed frustration with the practices of the Pharisees and leaders of the law. In Matthew 15:8-9 Jesus says, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.” More than anything, Jesus is after the hearts of men and women. Financial giving only mattered to God when it was done with a worshipful heart.

I wonder why you didn't make reference to the words of Jesus" you should have practice the latter without neglecting the former" . Even though tithe will not save people, it's Biblical principle not condemned by our Lord Jesus but encouraged.
Tithe is just 10 percent . What God really wants us to help people as far as we can reach out to
It's not like, we already gave our tenth for that month and just close our eyes

I feel, we should help each other when someone is in real trouble not fake one's

Or someone need medicine or having problems feeding their family

Most of us in impression that... just give your tenth to church and close the doors

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."

Jesus is correcting the teachers and the Pharisees. He highlight the fact that the Pharisees and teachers give their tithes ( spices--mint, dill and cumin) but neglect more important matters. But as you correctly alluded to, both areas needed their attention, but by Jesus's own words tithing was not as important.

But my friend, how can Jesus talk about Himself has being the first fruits, when His death had not taken place at this time? The old testament was still in place. The New Testament was not. Jesus was not the first fruit of mankind!
Jesus and the disciples were living in the old covenant at the time which eventually give way into the new convenant -after Jesus died.

1 Corinthians 15:20
“But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep”.

So living in today's testament, Jesus has become the first fruits for mankind. So the power of this New "Tithe' far exceeds the tithe of the old testament. The New Tithe truly cannot be neglected or it will indeed have serious repercussion on our salvation.
I don't neglect Jesus, the first fruit of those fallen asleep.
Money or good deeds alone will not get us into heaven, rather it's a loving relationship with Jesus that will.
Give with the heart of your First Fruit - Jesus. Think about it. Everything you do, filter your actions and thoughts through Jesus. That is the New Tithing. We must represent Jesus first. If we don't, we are not offering our spiritual tithe.
Give with a cheerful heart.

The issue of "tithe"is not about the law but the word of God (Hebrew 7:1-2; Genesis 14:18-20; Malachi 3:8-10). Except you are trying to say that the Old Testament is no longer the word of God (the Bible). Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry, always make reference to the Old Testament
If truly we are Abraham's seeds, claiming Abraham's blessings, we should be able t do what he did. He was a sacrificial giver, an obedient servant guided and inspired to give tithe even before the law. God judged him to be righteous.
I don't think payment of tithe will take people to hell or stop you as a true child of God from giving or sharing what God has blessed you with. Cheerful and generous giving is part of Christianity.
So if you don't believe in the payment of tithe which is just ten percent of your incomes, don't discourage others. Preach righteousness. God bless us all.

Wow. You freely added plenty of mistruths. I give. We must give. I encourage everyone to give abundantly. Much more than your tithe. It is you that is at error. You have destroyed a beautiful fundamental truth, Jesus is our first fruits. Is Jesus not our first fruits?

1 Corinthians 15:20-23

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.

My tithing belongs to the Father and I try my best to joyfully give this tithing to Him through Jesus. The old established obedience through the letter of the law but the new establishes obedience through the Spirit of Jesus. You want to follow Jesus? Count the cost. I'm giving up much more than 10%. Jesus is my Anchor. I live no more ( God keep me strong). That is our tithes! I will not reduce my gift of Love to God through a percentage of currency.
Please go in peace and pray over the matter.

Its not about discouraging others of giving their tenth or whole income . Its about how much love we can spread to others by our works . Even in today's world many assume giving tenth is a duty and that's all they need to do and close their eyes for any help .
And again its not about money . What else we can do if we dont have a single penny ?
We can serve people who are in need . Share food if you can . Someone met with accident, assist them calling ambulance or admit them in hospital.
If someone needs medicine, please contribute if you can
if someone needs help, we should be ready to help
If we atleast try to do around our circle of friends, relatives, or even strangers who come across and thats all God need from us . Its no where related to money .

Do you know that Tithing is a curse in the New Testament. Stop practising it.

However The Bible tells us how to give to the Lord directly. Read Mt 25:31-46.

"""Tithing will not save you. Jesus will. And offering, which can be money, service, praises and even your time, are all acceptable if done with gratitude. Giving with a joyful heart stem from love, and love is at the heart of all commandments.

So by all means give but give lovingly! """"
God thought me not only to tithe with money, but also with my time, talents, services, artistic abilities, books, oils, computer skills, clothes, shoes, and all types of offerings. Sometimes if we just look around our homes, we have good extra stuff that we are not using or no longer need (but others have a need and use for it), we also can tithe with those things also.

Tithing is not a curse in the New Testament. Nowhere in the Bible says that.

I pray that God will show all His children how to bless others with what He has blessed us with.

yeah rules and traditions of man. False prophet teachings, that taint the water and now makes it red with good peoples blood. Those are the way revelations is being fulfilled now already.

I am retired and I work part-time. There are many ways to tithe and give offerings to the Lord (your money, time, talents, services, clothes, shoes, and all types of offerings. Don't mix things up. Nobody is arguing about Jesus being raised from dead, the first fruit of those who have fallen asleep sleep.
By the grace of God, I give joyfully and cheerfully to the work of God, to needy and even pay hospital bills for people in my own little way, (I don't mean to boast of that). But that wouldn't stop me from obeying God who says "bring ye all the tithe into my store house..." Tithing is different from other offering and giving which is what every child of God should enjoy doing, Christ being our example.
I am not surprised anyway (1Timothy 4:1-3). May the holy Spirit help us to make it to the kingdom of God in Jesus Name.
