And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit... Acts 2:1-4
The Mighty Rushing Wind has always been a symbol to me of God imparting Life. It is deeply embedded in my soul.
Lately there has been numerous distractions in my life that had attempted to rip my time away from God. I confess I had been troubled by many global issues but through the grace of God I persevered and released the baggage. Praise God!
However the last two weeks I had somehow felt disconnected with the Father and wondered if He was even hearing my prayers.
Then early Saturday morning an epiphany struck me through a dream (or vision). I experienced an intense dream-like state that paralyzed me with fear. The scientific name of this form of sleep paralysis is called hypnopompic hallucinations. It occurs around the time one is waking up. Scientists don't really understand why it happens.
The imagery started with so much dread. I was pinned down to the floor unable to move or do anything but to look up and stared at the ceiling. I felt trapped, uneasy, and suffocating. The intensity of my anxiety was off the scale. Suddenly the ceiling directly above me started to crumble one piece at a time falling on my chest. Dread turned to sheer panic as my situation grew increasingly disconcerting. I struggled to awaken but to no avail. However, I did notice that the pieces that were striking my chest were very light and non-consequential. I realize that the fragments were simply plaster. It struct me as very superficial and not worthy of my attention and even lest, something I should fear. My stress began to level off. I was then able to see an emerging object inside the ceiling cavity that the crumbling plaster had fallen from. It was a ceiling fan and it was still spinning. The fan had been blowing the pieces to the ground. For whatever reason, someone had tried to cover up this ceiling fan from me. The fan was now fully expose and I could now feel the breeze soothing my body. I felt comforted and at peace.
As I was experiencing this odd dream, its interpretation was made known to me.
I now realised that it was my doubts that I been holding onto in real life that manifested itself in the dream. My doubts were responsible for covering the fan with plaster. I had inadvertently been hindering the Spirit. The pieces falling from the ceiling represented each problem I had created in my head. I then finally realized that my proverbial problems were without any substance and it was nothing to fret over. The fan was akin to the Holy Spirit moving first in the unseen world [behind the plastered ceiling] and then busting through the plaster to assist me and comforting my troubled spirit.
God does indeed work behind the scene. I may look up in the sky from time to time feeling hopeless and filled with anxieties. I may even ask why isn't God listening to me? But truth be told it was my doubts in the first place that severed the line of communication between God and I. In the final analysis the Holy Spirit was hard at work destroying my obstacles and re-establishing His fellowship with me.
We may not see everything in the spirit realm but the Holy Spirit is indeed hard at work moving upon the face of the deep. I did not only see the Light at the end of the proverbial tunnel but I felt His mighty rushing wind restoring life into my soul.
Thank You God. You will never forsake us.
