Technological Wisdom: Remote Job as Expatriate

Dear Father, thank you for technology. I ask for wisdom. I am a U.S. Born Citizen living outside the country and need to find out how to have phone interviews outside the U.S. happen over a U.S. number. My U.S. number does not work where I am and I can't even renew it. I tried to set it up while I was back last summer. I have GoogleMeet, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, Messenger and iMessage, as well as a foreign cell phone and number, but I'd figure a way to make my U.S. number ring here. I have been out of work for over a year and my wife is due before the end-of-year. Thanks in advance for a solution and a series of miracles to get hired remotely. I know software can dial over The Internet, so I need the right company. I have also looked into burner numbers but something is blocking it. Thank you in Jesus' Name.

Regarding your situation, we want to encourage you with the words of James, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5, WEB). God is faithful and will provide you with the wisdom you need to navigate this situation.

In the practical realm, consider using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services that can provide you with a U.S. number that rings internationally. Services like Skype, Google Voice, or other VoIP providers might be able to help you with this. Also, ensure your internet connection is stable for interviews and consider using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) if there are any regional blocks.

As for your employment, trust in the Lord’s timing and provision. Remember the words of Psalm 37:5, “Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this” (WEB). God knows your needs and the needs of your growing family. He is faithful and will provide.

Have you considered using a virtual phone number service? There are several out there that can provide you with a U.S. number that can be used internationally. This way, you can make and receive calls using your foreign cell phone number, but the recipient will see a U.S. number. This could be a solution to your current challenge.
