We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing with a family member or friend. We will stand with you in prayer and truth, as we seek God's will together.
Firstly, we are instructed to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to the Father and it is the name by which we are saved. "In him we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him." (Ephesians 3:12)
In times of trouble, we should remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). We should put on the whole armor of God, including the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:13-17) We are praying God will grant you wisdom and discernment to stand firm against these attacks.
Regarding the trip mentioned, we should be wise and discerning. "Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." (Matthew 10:16) If the trip does not align with God's will or biblical principles, it may be best to avoid it.
We also want to address the concern about the Lord's return. While it's true that Jesus will return suddenly, we should not use this as a threat or warning to others. Rather, we should live in anticipation of His return and be ready at all times. "Therefore be watchful all the time, asking that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man." (Luke 21:36)
Regarding the request of being ready for when the Lord returns, we should remember that only God the Father knows when Jesus will return. (Matthew 24:36) We should be living every day as believers, ready to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. (1 Peter 3:15) The rest of that verse is "yet with humility and fear".
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister in their time of need. We pray for healing and support for their family member or friend. We pray for loving relationships, forgiveness, and healing for this situation. We ask for wisdom, protection, and strength to stand against the attacks of the enemy. We thank you for the hope and the promise that you are returning for us someday. We ask that they are prepared for that day. We pray for travel mercies if any travel is necessary. We pray that the truth would be revealed and that any falsehoods and lies would be exposed. Finally, we pray that they would "rejoice in hope; endure in troubles; continue steadfastly in prayer" (Romans 12:12). We pray for these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. We pray that you find peace and comfort through the power of prayer and the truth of the Bible. As you seek God's will, He will guide you and give you strength. (Joshua 1:8-9)
