Since we have so many new standers I decided to repost something from a previous date for todays encouragement.
I know that for us standers there are many days when the pain of separation or divorce gets to us and we ask ourselves "why am I doing this"?, Well I had to remind myself of this and I just wanted to share it with you all a little story I wrote. No matter what we can't give up. Think of the day you and you spouse got married. It was so exciting. There wasn't another place, another person, or time on this earth that would have made any of us happier. God was there, witnessing what he had put together and putting his blessings on us.
Now on all of our wedding days we took vows similar to these; "I Ronnie take you, Tina, as my Wife. To have and to hold. To honor and cherish. In sickness and in health, for rich or for poor, in good times and bad, until death takes us apart." WOW, I almost started crying thinking about that.
For most of us we can say that today we are experiencing "the bad". Sometimes that "bad" hurts our hearts so much that we just want to give up and walk away. But we can't, think about your vows again and think about what you said to God and your spouse on that day.
What would we standers have done if our spouses had not left us but instead had been kidnapped? What if we were at home and one day we got a call saying our spouses had been taken hostage and the only way they wouldn't be killed is if we showed up and had to risk our very lives to save them. Imagine the kidnapper even putting your spouse on the phone, holding a gun to their heads, and making them say the most painful, evil things to you. You know they dont mean those words but they are being influenced into saying them. Would you still come to try to save them? I would. See thats EXACTLY what has happened to our spouses now. satan has kidnapped them, held them hostage, made them say and do things, and dared us to come and fight for them. It first it feels like going to a gun fight with a sling shot until we finally stop trying to fight alone and call in the ultimate weapon against satan, JESUS. Jesus has never lost a battle against satan so why do we continue to fight satan without him. Call on him, tell him your situation, continue to pray and stand during the fight and know that when the dust settles Jesus will be walking out with our spouses over his shoulders. All we have to do is take them home, love them in what ever condition they are in, help put spritiual bandages on their wounds and allow Jesus to move into our homes with us to make sure satan doesn't try to sneak back in to take them again.
PRAY, BELIEVE, NEVER GIVE UP!!!
