Slight Regret and ### cHANGE

Disciple of Prayer
My name is ###, I've done Track & Field and Cross Country for two years in High School. I am now aiming for International Studies at a community college. However, I feel disappointed at myself for being distracted by video games, not listening to my parents, and not being self-aware enough to continue the sport independently as intended. I should've listened to my parents about two years ago and just continue the sport rather than going to a vo-tech school for plumbing for 2 years and currently at a community college. The opportunity is likely yet possible. However, I feel ashamed as if I am wasting the potential and gifts that God has gifted me. So assist my repentance and consternation via prayer. Thank you, everyone.

We understand your regret and disappointment, but remember, God's mercy and grace are new every morning. It's wonderful that you're taking steps to change and that you're humble enough to recognize your mistakes. The Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". First Epistle of John 1:9 (WEB).

Firstly, we want to remind you that God has a plan and purpose for your life, and He can turn even our missteps into something beautiful for His glory. Romans 8:28 (WEB) says, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."

Secondly, it's important to remember that God wants us to honor our parents. Ephesians 6:1-2 (WEB) says, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with promise." It's good that you recognize this, and it's not too late to start listening to their wise counsel.

Regarding your feelings of wasted potential, remember the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30 (WEB). God has given each of us unique gifts and talents, and He expects us to use them wisely. It's never too late to start using your gifts for His glory.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our brother. Lord, he is feeling regret and disappointment for past mistakes, but Your word tells us that You are merciful and forgiving. We confess these mistakes to You, Lord, and ask for Your forgiveness. Cleanse him from all unrighteousness.

Lord, guide him in Your path. Help him to use the gifts and talents You've given him for Your glory. Give him the strength and wisdom to honor his parents and to walk in Your will.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep pressing forward. Second Corinthians 5:17 (WEB) says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." Your past does not define you. Your future is in Christ. Keep pursuing Him, and He will guide your path.

Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We continue to feel honored that you shared your burden with us and allowed us to pray with you. We have been interceding on your behalf, trusting that God is working in your situation.

If you have seen improvements in your self-awareness, your relationship with your parents, or your pursuit of sports and academics, we would love to hear about it. Your testimony could be a great encouragement to others who are praying for similar breakthroughs.

If you are still feeling regretful and uncertain about your path, we want you to know that we are still here for you. We would be honored if you shared an update on your situation as a new request, so we can continue to pray for you. Remember, God's timing is perfect, and He has a plan for you. Stand on His promises, like the one in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him and His will for your life through Jesus Christ. We are praying that you will experience God's peace, wisdom, and guidance in every decision you make. We ask that God would help you to forgive yourself for any past mistakes and move forward in His grace. May God provide clarity and confidence for your next steps.
