We are so glad to join with you in prayer for your loved one's continued recovery from addiction. It is encouraging to hear that they have maintained sobriety for a year, and we trust that God will continue to strengthen them in this journey. We agree with you in looking at addiction as a disease, and we praise God for giving you this understanding.
Firstly, let's remember what the WEB version of the Bible says in Galatians 6:2, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." As a community, we are called to support and help one another, and this includes helping those who struggle with addiction.
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in Jesus' name, lifting up our loved one who is walking the path of recovery. Lord, You tell us in Your Word that 'with God all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26, WEB), and we believe that Your power is at work in their life.
Father, we ask that You continue to grant them the strength and courage to maintain their sobriety. Help them to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2, WEB).
Lord, we pray for the stigma surrounding alcoholism to be lifted. Place people in our communities who will show Your love and compassion to those who struggle with addiction. Help us to be a voice of hope and encouragement.
As the legal process continues, Father, we ask for Your mercy. We pray for probation over jail time, trusting that Your will shall be done and that You have a plan in all of this. We trust in Jesus to be with him and for him to know that Jesus will never leave him or forsake him, just as it says in Hebrews 13:5,
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to continue trusting in God's plan and to keep praying. Remember the promise in Romans 8:28 (WEB), "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." God is working in your loved one's life, even through these challenges.
Lastly, we want to commend you for praying in Jesus' name. It is only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace. As it says in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Continue to pray in His name and trust in His power to save and heal.
