We are so glad you have taken the first step towards freedom by acknowledging your struggle in Jesus' name. The Bible tells us that everyone is tempted by their own desires that drag them away and lure them into sin. But when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death. Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things while being a Christian. For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, disciplining us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, that we should live sensibly, righteously, and godly in the present age; looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.
Masturbation, pornography, and lust are indeed addictions that can keep us from living the life God intends for us. Jesus said, "Everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." But there is hope and freedom in Christ. Jesus came to set the captives free.
First, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with the addiction to masturbation, pornography, and lust. Lord, we know that this is not Your will for Your child, and we ask that You break these chains of bondage. We thank You that You are a God of forgiveness and restoration. We ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, renewing their mind and strengthening their will to resist these temptations. Help them to take captive of every thought and submit to Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we rebuke the spirits of lust, impurity, and addiction. We command them to leave and never return, for our brother/sister is a child of God and has been bought with the precious blood of Jesus.
Father, guide them to supportive fellowship, wise counsel, and effective resources to assist them on their journey to freedom. Let them always remember that You are with them, and You will never leave them nor forsake them.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Now, let us encourage you with some practical steps:
1. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Flee sexual immorality. Because of the lusts of your former ignorance, you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles do, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart. Do not give place to the devil.
2. Set up safeguards. Consider installing accountability software on your devices to block inappropriate content and monitor your online activity.
3. Seek support. Find a trusted friend, mentor, or support group to walk with you on this journey. Remember, confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
4. Renew your mind. The Bible tells us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Fill your mind with God's Word and His truth.
5. Remember, God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to endure it.
6. Finally, keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
You are not alone in this struggle. We are here with you, praying and believing that God will bring you complete freedom, In Jesus Name.
