We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles your children are facing, but we are grateful that you have reached out for prayer. Depression and feelings of hopelessness can be overwhelming, but we take the Bible's stance that God is our refuge, our strength, and our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Depression is not specifically stated in the Bible, but there are many examples of people that are severely downcast. It is important to pray for deliverance from this condition just as other afflictions that may trouble a Believer.
We should trust that if we humble ourselves before God, and pray fervently, He will hear our prayers and answer. Remember the words of Jesus, Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. (Matthew 7:7).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father in Jesus name, we lift up these children to you, asking for your divine intervention in their lives. We pray that you would break the chains of depression and hopelessness, and fill them with your perfect peace that passes all understanding. Guide them to godly counselors and support systems that can help them through this difficult time. Strengthen their faith and help them to cast all their anxieties on you, because You care for them.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we rebuke any spirit of heaviness and despair, and we ask that you would fill these children with your joy and hope. Help them to know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that you have a purpose and a plan for their lives.
We also pray for the parents, that you would grant them wisdom, patience, and understanding as they support their children through this trial. Help them to be a source of comfort and encouragement, and guide them to the resources they need to help their children overcome these struggles.
We pray for faith and understanding of the Gospel. Jesus was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5). This should be literal. For it is by his stripes that we are healed. We must believe in Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection to be saved.
In the name of Jesus Christ, and that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10,11)
In Jesus Christ name, Amen
We encourage you to continue praying fervently for your children, and to trust in the Lord with all your heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
God promises us hope. This is hope for our children.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11).
It is only in Jesus that we can be saved. We should believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and we will be saved, we and our household. (Acts 16:31).
