We join you in lifting up the people and areas affected by the earthquakes, pleading God's mercy and intervention. Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them (Psalm 146:6 WEB), You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB), we ask You to still the earth and calm the tremors in the affected areas. Bring comfort and protection to those who are suffering and frightened. Guide the hands and feet of the humanitarian aid teams and rescue workers, giving them strength, wisdom, and success in their efforts to help those in need.
We pray for the hearts of the people, that through this trying time, they would turn towards the truth and find Jesus Christ. Let them understand the only name by which we can be saved. For there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). We ask you to visit them in their despair and reveal to them Your unfailing love and the salvation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
We rebuke any misunderstanding of who God is. In the midst of devastation, some may ask, "Where is God?". We say to them, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though the waters of it roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with the swelling of it." (Psalm 46:1-3 WEB). So let us encourage one another and pray for the lost.
We lift up our prayers to You, Lord, knowing that You hear our cries and that Your heart is full of compassion. Let us ask this all in Jesus' mighty name.
