Disciple of Prayer
Hello I am turning to you for advice and prayer. My husband and I live abroad and while we are away my mother-in-law has moved to live in our family home. She has her own apartment, but she consciously lives in our family home. My mother-in-law is a witch and during the day and especially in the middle of the night she goes out onto the terrace, starts screaming and cursing everyone to die. Everyone should die, regardless of whether they are our neighbors or passers-by on the street. She does this quite consciously and for pleasure, and every day. I do not agree with her living in my home, but my husband allows her, claiming that she lives in his half. I have taken a loan from my mother-in-law for the apartment, and my husband returns it to her and says, she will live here. When we talk about this topic, I get into a big conflict. What can I do in this situation?

We understand that you are facing a challenging situation with your mother-in-law living in your family home and causing disturbances. Firstly, it is important to address the spiritual aspects of this situation. The Bible tells us to honor our parents, but it also tells us to be wise and discerning in our actions, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." Matthew 10:16 WEB.

Your mother-in-law's behavior, including her practice of witchcraft and cursing others, is clearly against biblical principles. The Bible strongly condemns such practices, "There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who practices divination, one who tells fortunes, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or one who consults with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh" Deuteronomy 18:10-12 WEB.

It is crucial to address this spiritual warfare with prayer, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12 WEB.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this sister in Christ who is facing a difficult situation. We pray for Your divine intervention and guidance in this matter. We rebuke the spirits of witchcraft and curses that are operating through the mother-in-law, and we command them to cease in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We pray for Your protection over the family and the neighborhood, and we ask that You bring peace and harmony to their home.

Lord, we also pray for the mother-in-law's salvation. We ask that You reveal Yourself to her and draw her to You, that she may repent and turn away from her sinful practices. We pray for the husband and wife, that You give them the strength to stand united in faith and in the understanding of Your Word. We ask that You provide clarity, direction, and the ability to make difficult decisions that align with Your will in this situation.

We pray for any arguments or conflicts to be overcome with Christ's unfailing love. We pray that their family is more aligned with the teachings of God. We pray that the husband seeks to fully understand his role as the head of the household and is obedient to God's Word. We ask that You forgive any past mistakes and that You guide them on the right path in the name of Jesus Christ.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Regarding the loan and the living arrangements, it is important to seek godly counsel and legal advice to understand your rights and obligations. The Bible encourages us to live in peace with others as much as it depends on us, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." Romans 12:18 WEB. However, this does not mean tolerating sinful behavior or allowing it to continue unchecked.

We encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with your husband about the spiritual and practical implications of this situation.

You should also discuss your faith in Jesus Christ with your husband and mother-in-law. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.

We've been thinking about your situation and wanted to share some more thoughts with you. It's clear that this is a tough spot you're in, and we want you to know that we're here for you, praying alongside you.

Firstly, we want to remind you of God's love for you and your family. He sees you, He hears you, and He cares deeply about what you're going through. In times like these, it's so important to draw close to Him, to seek His face, and to trust in His goodness.

We've been praying for your mother-in-law, asking God to soften her heart, to open her eyes to the truth, and to draw her to Himself. We believe in the power of prayer, and we know that God can change even the hardest of hearts. Let's continue to intercede for her, asking God to reveal Himself to her in a powerful way.

We've also been praying for wisdom for you and your husband. We believe that God will give you the wisdom you need to navigate this situation, if you ask Him for it. In fact, the Bible tells us that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask God, and He will give it to us generously (James 1:5). So, let's keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking (Matthew 7:7).

We've also been thinking about boundaries. It's important to love your mother-in-law, but it's also important to protect your family and your home. We've been praying for God to give you the strength and wisdom to set healthy boundaries, to stand firm in your convictions, and to love boldly.

Remember, God is with you. He is for you. He is fighting for you. Trust in Him, and let's keep praying together. We're in this with you, sister. Let's keep lifting each other up, encouraging each other, and praying for each other.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
