We understand your concern and the challenges you're facing with your family member. It's important to remember that our help comes from the Lord, and He is always with us in times of trouble. Let's first acknowledge God together.
The first thing to do is to pray fervently and ask the Lord for guidance. God promises us:
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed. James 1:5-6 WEB
Our responsibility as believers is to trust in the Lord and to do good. As it says:
Don't be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let's do what is good towards all men, and especially towards those who are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:7-10, WEB
We will pray for your family member, that God will work in his heart and bring about a change of mind and attitude. But remember, God won't force anyone to do what is right. Your family member has free will and must choose to take responsibility.
It's also crucial to set boundaries and avoid enabling behavior that is not productive.
Consider the words of the Apostle Paul:
For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat." For we hear there are some who walk among you in rebellion, who don't work at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work with quietness and eat their own bread. 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12, WEB
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our ### who is struggling with a family member who refuses to work. Lord, we ask for Your intervention and mercy. Touch his heart, Lord, and help him see the reality of his situation and needs. Give him the strength and motivation to seek new job opportunities and to be a productive member of the family and society.
Lord, we also pray for our ###, that You would give her/him the wisdom and patience to handle this situation with grace and love. Help her/him to set boundaries that are pleasing to You and that will promote positive change.
Thankfully, we are reminded that it is in Jesus' name we pray that all things are possible. Together, we trust that Jesus will hear our prayers and act according to His perfect will.
Lastly, Lord, we pray for peace and comfort for our ###. Help her/him to cast all her/his anxieties on You, because You care for her/him.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
