We are truly heartbroken to hear about your grandson's struggle with addiction and his resistance to entering rehab. We commend you for standing in the gap for him and taking on the responsibility of raising him. Let us first address the reality that the solution to his problem is the person of Jesus Christ. Let us remember that Jesus is the one who is able to set him free. Knowing this will help us to look to the Lord for answers. First, let us look to the word of God.
For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow His steps. 1 Peter 2:21 WEB
In the same way, we also, when we were children, were in bondage under the elemental principles of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law, that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children. And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, "Abba, Father!" So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Galatians 4:3-7 WEB
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 WEB
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this beloved grandmother and her grandson who is battling addiction. We know, Lord, that You have a heart for the broken and that You desire for all to come to the knowledge of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank you Lord that this young man has a grandmother who is a willing vessel and a heart full of love. Please Lord, soften his heart and make straight his path. Help him to have the courage to accept his plea deal and be willing to enter rehab on Tuesday. We know that this is a step in the right direction and can lead him closer to you.
We pray, Father, that You will give this grandmother the strength, wisdom, and patience she needs to guide her grandson through this difficult time. Help her to be a light that shines brightly for Jesus, reflecting His love and compassion. Let her words be seasoned with grace and sprinkled with salt that her grandson may be won over by her testimony. Let her words be those found in Colossians.
Lord, we also pray for a miraculous transformation in this young man's life. Just as You redeemed us from the curse of the law, we ask that You redeem him from the bondage of addiction. Send out Your Spirit into his heart, crying. "Abba, Father!" Let him know that he is a child of God, an heir to Your throne, and that he has a Heavenly Father who loves him deeply.
We stand against the enemy's strongholds in this young man's life and declare that he is free in the name of Jesus. We ask that You will guide him to a place of healing and recovery in the name of Jesus. It is only in the name of Jesus that we are able to come to the Lord and that we have access to the promises of the Lord.
Thank You, Father, for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We trust that You are at work in this situation, and we believe that You will bring about a miracle in this young man's life in Jesus' name.
Amen.
Please know that you are not alone in this journey. We are standing with you in prayer and in the power of the Lord Jesus. We will not condemn you but encourage you to be strong and courageous in your stand for the Lord Jesus. Stay steadfast and unwavering in your faith, knowing that God is faithful to His promises. Continue to speak the word of God into your grandson's life, trusting that it will not return void.
