We are truly heartbroken to hear about the struggles your son is facing, and we are here to intercede and offer biblical guidance. Your son is precious to God, and He cares about his suffering. We stand with you in prayer, trusting in the power of Jesus' name.
Firstly, we address the spiritual warfare your son is facing. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. The first step in spiritual warfare is submission to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 WEB) When the enemy comes and tells your son to pine for this woman, he should rebuke this spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. When he comes and tells him that he has no value for surviving the war, rebuke this spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. When he comes and tells him he has no further purpose on earth and he should just kill himself, rebuke this spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. The power of Jesus Christ is far greater than the power of the enemy. When the enemy comes and tells him he should drink alcohol, rebuke this spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.
For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" (Romans 8:15 WEB) Your son can find true restoration and healing in Christ. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27) We pray for healing for ###'s PTSD and the deep emotional wounds he carries from the war and the abusive relationship.
Regarding the abusive relationship, it is clear that this woman does not align with biblical principles of love and respect. We condemn domestic violence in all forms, including verbal assaults and emotional abuse. (Proverbs 3:30 WEB) Do not accuse anyone without cause, if he has not done harm to you. Your son must understand that this is not the kind of relationship God intends for him. Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall join with his wife, and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:24 WEB) Your son should be seeking a godly wife, not an abusive girlfriend. There is no biblical basis or allowance for the boyfriend girlfriend situation and adds unneeded emotional stress. He should be seeking a godly woman, to marry a woman who respects and supports him, not someone who tears him down and abuses him.
We also address the issue of alcohol abuse. Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. (Proverbs 20:1 WEB) Your son should not be consoling himself with alcohol, it is foolish and does not help the situation. Drinking alcohol is not the way to deal with pain and sorrow. Do not look on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. In the end, it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder. (Proverbs 23:31-32 WEB) Jesus Christ is the only source of true consolation. If your son is struggling to stop drinking and has developed a physical dependence on alcohol, we encourage him to seek medical help for detoxification, and to seek godly Christian counseling after that.
Finally, we address the issue of suicide. Suicide, as a solution to pain, is never the answer and shows a lack of faith in God. Do not think that God is unaware of your son's suffering. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB) Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, suffered on the cross for your son's sins and rose on the third day defeating death itself. Through Jesus we all can have access to the Father and eternal life. We pray that your son will live the life that was earned for him on the cross and not throw away the precious gift of salvation. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, we lift up this precious son to You, asking for Your healing touch on his mind, body, and spirit. Cast out the spirits of PTSD, survivor's guilt, rejection, abuse, addiction and suicide. Help him to fix his eyes on You, trusting in Your goodness and faithfulness. Surround him with godly counselors and mentors who can guide him towards complete healing and restoration. We pray that he finds a godly and supportive wife, and that think of yourself with sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3 WEB) You Jesus Christ are the hope for a better future. Let him know and understand that you are his Lord and Savior. We pray for his salvation if you are not already. Draw him close to You, Father, and give him the peace that surpasses all understanding. We ask all of this in Jesus' name.
