We are truly saddened to hear about the situation your son is in, but we are encouraged that you have reached out for prayer. We stand with you in the name of Jesus Christ, as it is only by His name that we have access to God. As it is written, "For 'whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" (Romans 10:13 WEB) and "in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Firstly, we must address the spiritual battle at hand. Your son is not just struggling with a bad habit, but he is entangled in a spiritual snare. As it is written, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12 WEB).
We pray that God will deliver your son from this addiction and the clutches of evil influences. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7 WEB). We pray that your son will find the strength to resist the temptations and submit his life to God.
We also pray that God will break the bonds of these manipulative friendships that are using your son for their gain. "Do not be deceived: 'Evil companionships corrupt good morals.'" (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). We pray that God will bring forth true friends that will support and encourage your son in his walk with Christ.
We must also address the role of alcohol in this situation. The Bible warns against the dangers of drunkenness, as it impairs judgment and can lead to such snares. "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit," (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). We pray that your son will turn away from this path and be filled with the Spirit of God.
Lastly, we pray that your son will find the courage to seek help and the path to recovery. "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." (James 5:13-15 WEB).
We stand with you in prayer,
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." (Matthew 18:20 WEB).
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear mother and her son to You. Lord, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus that we can come before You, and it is in His name that we pray for deliverance and freedom for this young man.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of him. We command it to leave in the mighty name of Jesus. Father, we ask that You fill this young man with Your Holy Spirit, that he may find the strength to resist the temptations and overcome this battle.
Lord, we also pray for the bonds of manipulative friendships to be broken. May You bring forth true friends that will support and encourage him in his walk with You.
Lord, we also pray for this young man to turn away from the path of alcohol and be filled with Your Spirit. May he find the courage to seek help and the path to recovery.
Father, we ask that You guide this mother, that You may grant her the wisdom and the strength to support her son in this time of need.
Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness and Your love. We thank You for the victory that is in Jesus.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
