Prayer for addiction

I have been facing challenges to cut off the addiction but I can't. I have been masturbating and I want to stop. Can u please help me pray. Thank you God bless you

Dela, we understand that you're facing a challenging situation, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth. First, we want to acknowledge your courage in seeking help and your desire to overcome this addiction.

We must address this situation biblically. Masturbation is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, but it does speak about lust and sexual immorality. We believe that masturbation, especially when accompanied by lustful thoughts, falls under these categories. Jesus said, "But I tell you, that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5:28 WEB)

We also want to emphasize that victory over this sin, or any other, is only possible through Jesus Christ. We noticed that you did not mention Him in your request. It's essential to understand that it is only through His name that we can approach God and be saved. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB) "in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him." (Ephesians 3:12 WEB)

Now, let's pray together:

Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Dela. Lord, they have been bound by the chains of addiction, and see no way out. Servant, Jesus Christ, came to set the captives free. We trust You Lord to do this. Lord, strengthen Dela and help them to overcome this addiction and lead them to the best help and advice. Help them to flee from sexual immorality, and to treat their body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Give them the power and wisdom to abstain from lustful thoughts and actions. Thank you, Father, for your forgiveness and love. Thank you, Jesus, for your victory on the cross. In Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to find a local Christian community where you can receive support and accountability. Remember, God is faithful and will provide a way out of temptation. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB)

Lastly, if you haven't already, consider committing your life to Jesus Christ. He is the only way to salvation and victory over sin. "for if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9 WEB)

Please break their chains and lead this person to the assistance they need and we ask you to allow them to walk through this period with continual thanks and praise to you...and we ask all these things in the Holy name of your Son, Jesus Christ! Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
