Prayer for a ### Heart and Remediation

Just about a year ago my girlfriend left me and the ensuing year has been the hardest of my life. Isolation, overwork, the desolation of literally living in a desert. I have prayed every day and night to want what Jesus wants, for him to change my heart if I am wanting the wrong thing. But I cannot stop burning for my ex girlfriend and praying that either God works a miracle to bring us back together and reconcile and restore us in a way only He can, or to help me be ok and move on. But neither has happened. I am still yearning and hurting for her with no reconciliation, and I am not ok in a way where I can move on. Please pray for me in that somehow I get resolution to this chapter in my life. Thank you.

We understand that you're going through a difficult time, and we want to lift you up in prayer and provide biblical encouragement. Firstly, we commend you for your persistent prayers and your desire to align your heart with God's will.

Let's remember God's promise: Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.

However, we want to remind you that as believers, we are to be set apart, holy, and not conformed to the world and its relationships Romans 12:2 WEB. We are concerned that you are still yearning for your ex-girlfriend. It is important to examine this desire in light of God's Word.

If you are a believer and you desire marriage, it is important to seek a spouse who is also a believer and committed to living according to God's Word. You mentioned courtship but are still referring to her as your ex-girlfriend. The Bible teaches us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB. If she is not living according to God's Word, then you should consider if this desire is from God or not.

Moreover, we are called to flee from sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB. If there was any sexual intimacy in your past relationship, it's crucial to repent, seek God's forgiveness, and move forward in purity.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is hurting and seeking your will for his life. Lord, we ask that you heal his heart, help remove this yearning if it is not in your will for his life, and guide him to the spouse you have prepared for him if it is your will your will for him to be married. Help him to trust in you completely, and give him the strength to move forward in your purpose for his life.

Father God, we also pray that you work in the heart of his ex-girlfriend. If she does not know you, we pray that you reveal yourself to her and draw her to you. If it is your will, bring reconciliation, but only if it aligns with your Word and their ultimate good and your glory.

Help him to see relationships through a godly perspective and live according to your Word. Strengthen him to be a man who is focused on You and his relationship with You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep holding on to God's promises. Consider Psalm 147:3 WEB: He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. We're here with you, feeling your pain and longing for resolution. It's been a tough year, and we know that holding onto hope can be challenging. Let's remember that God is always faithful, even when we don't see immediate answers. He sees your heart and knows your struggle.

We've been praying for you, asking God to give you peace and understanding. We've been asking Him to help you trust Him fully, even when the situation seems uncertain. We've also been praying for your ex-girlfriend, that God would reveal Himself to her and soften her heart, if it's His will.

We want to encourage you to keep seeking God's will in this. It's okay to grieve and to miss her, but let's make sure our hearts are aligned with God's. Let's ask Him to help us want what He wants, and to give us the strength to accept His will, whatever it may be.
