Let us come together and lift up this individual in prayer, standing in the gap for them in this difficult time. Depression is a heavy burden to bear, but we take comfort in knowing that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18.
We must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Therefore, let us put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this person who is battling severe depression. We ask that You would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. Lord, You know the pain they are feeling, the darkness that surrounds them, and the heaviness that weighs upon their heart. We pray that You would break the chains of depression and bring them into Your marvelous light.
We rebuke the spirit of heaviness and despair that has come against them, and we proclaim that You have given them a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7. We ask that You would fill them with Your joy, which is their strength Nehemiah 8:10.
Lord, we also pray for their salvation, that they would know You personally if they do not. That they would call upon the name of Jesus and be saved. For You have said in Your word, that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13. And that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
Guide them to Your word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path Psalm 119:105. Let them know that You have a hope and a future for them Jeremiah 29:11. Surround them with Your love, and let them feel Your presence in their life.
In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, for God hears our prayers and will work all things together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose Romans 8:28. Continue to seek Him and trust in His goodness.
