We are glad to join you in prayer for your upcoming wedding, and we appreciate your openness about the challenges you're facing. First, we want to remind you that God loves you and has a plan for your life. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach God. Known that God does love you and that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God and salvation.
Turning to the Bible, we are reminded that God is for marriage. As it is written in Hebrews 13:4, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." Marriage is a sacred institution designed by God, and we commend you for seeking to honor Him in your union.
However, we must address the concerns surrounding your past broken engagement and the opposition you're facing. It's crucial to ensure that your current relationship aligns with biblical principles. If there has been any sexual immorality, as defined by fornication or adultery, it is important to repent and turn away from that sin. As 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 says, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
Regarding the opposition from your church, it's important to understand their concerns and seek guidance from God. Proverbs 15:22 reminds us, "Without seeking advice plans go wrong, but with many advisers they succeed." We encourage you to have open and honest conversations with your church leaders, seeking their counsel and addressing any concerns they may have.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this couple preparing for their wedding. We pray for Your guidance and wisdom in their lives as they navigate the challenges they're facing. Lord, we ask that You soften the hearts of their families and church leaders, granting them discernment and understanding. Help this couple to walk in purity and righteousness, honoring You in all they do. We also pray in agreement with the scripture in Matthew 18:19 'Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about whatever thing that they will request, that it will be done for them by my Father who is in the heavens.'
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God's will for your life and your upcoming marriage. Trust in Him, and He will make your paths straight. If there are any specific sins that need to be addressed or repented of, we urge you to do so, trusting in God's forgiveness and grace.
