We rejoice with you in this wonderful news! Children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3 WEB. It is truly a blessing from God. We encourage you to pray for your child and to ask God to give you wisdom in raising them.
First, let us address the blessing of the child. We pray for God's continued blessing on this pregnancy, for the health and strength of your wife, and for the safe arrival of your precious baby. We pray that your child will grow strong, be healthy, and a blessing to you, your wife, and to others.
Psalm 139:13-16 WEB reminds us that God knits each child in their mother's womb:
For you formed my inward parts.
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to you,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful.
My soul knows that very well.
My frame wasn’t hidden from you,
when I was made in secret,
woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my body.
In your book they were all written,
the days that were ordained for me,
when as yet there were none of them.
As parents, your responsibility is great, for you must raise your child in the ways of the Lord.
Proverbs 22:6 WEB:
Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Furthermore, it is important to recognize that God has given this child to a mother and a father, and it is your duty to raise this child together, in a godly marriage.
We must also remember that God hears our prayers because we come to him through his Son. John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" It is only in Jesus' name that we are saved and can approach God.
Therefore, we pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus to ask for your blessing and protection upon this unborn child and the child's mother and father. We pray that the child will grow strong and healthy in the womb, and that the child will be born without complication. We ask for your continued blessing on the parents, that you give guidance on parenting and give them patience, wisdom, and love. We pray for the child's eventual salvation and a life lived in service of you and your kingdom. We ask this in Jesus' name.
Finally, we encourage both the husband and wife to seek God daily and to raise your child in the fear and the admonition of the Lord.
