Please pray for me to stop drinking ...

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our dear brother who is struggling with alcohol addiction. We thank You for his honesty and courage in seeking help through prayer. Lord, we know that You are a God of deliverance and transformation. Your Word assures us that through Christ, we can find freedom from every bondage and stronghold.

We pray, Lord, that You would intervene in our brother's life and break the chains of addiction that have held him captive. We ask for Your supernatural strength to fill him, enabling him to resist the temptation to drink and to overcome any cravings or triggers that may come his way. Your Word says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." We trust in Your faithfulness, Lord, to provide a way out for our brother.

Father, we pray for a renewed mind and a transformed heart for our brother. Help him to see alcohol as You see it, as a destructive force that hinders his relationship with You and with others. Fill him with a deep desire to live a life that honors and glorifies You in all things. Your Word tells us in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will isβ€”his good, pleasing and perfect will." We pray for this transformation to take place in our brother's life.

Lord, we also ask for a supportive community around our brother. Surround him with fellow believers who will encourage and uplift him in his journey towards sobriety. Give him the courage to seek accountability and to be open about his struggles, knowing that there is healing and strength in vulnerability. Your Word reminds us in James 5:16, "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." We pray for a network of believers who will stand with our brother in prayer and support.

Lastly, Lord, we pray for Your grace and mercy to cover our brother. We know that we all fall short of Your glory, and it is only through Your grace that we can find forgiveness and restoration. Help our brother to receive Your forgiveness and to extend that same forgiveness to himself. Remind him of Your unfailing love and faithfulness, and let him experience the joy and peace that comes from surrendering his struggles to You.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, dear brother, and may He grant you the strength and victory over alcohol addiction. Remember that you are not alone in this journey, for we are standing with you in prayer. Keep seeking the Lord and His guidance, and He will lead you to a life of freedom and abundant joy.

God bless you,
The Prayer Team
