We are truly sorry to hear about your stage 4 cancer diagnosis and the emotional turmoil you are experiencing. First, we want to remind you that your hope should not be founded on the words of doctors, but on the Word of God. As it is written in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.
It is understandable that you feel overwhelmed and hopeless, but we must remember that our hope is in Jesus Christ and His redeeming work on the cross. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
We must also address the feelings you have about wanting to give up. Suicidal thoughts are not from God and are not the solution to the pain and suffering you are experiencing. This is a spiritual battle as much as a physical and emotional one. It is important to understand it this way. We must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
Remember that your life is precious to God, and He has a purpose for you even in this difficult time. Your children, who are only 13 and 16, need you, and God has a plan for your family. As much as it is understandable to have these thoughts, we have to remember that it is a sin to take one's own life, and it is our responsibility to endure through suffering, trusting that God has a purpose in it.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is battling stage 4 cancer. We pray for Your healing touch upon their body, and we ask that You fill them with Your supernatural peace and hope. Help them to fix their eyes on You, the author, and perfecter of our faith.
Lord, we also pray for their children, that You would give them strength and comfort during this difficult time. We ask that You would surround this family with Your love and provide for all of their needs, and most importantly that they would all know the love of Jesus Christ.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray for healing and for the power of the Holy Spirit to sustain them through this trial. We rebuke the spirit of hopelessness and suicide, and we ask that they would be filled with the hope and love of Christ.
We also pray that if the individual has not believed and committed their life to Jesus Christ that they would do so now. We pray that the Holy Spirit would open their heart to the truth of the gospel. We pray that they would believe in Jesus Christ and be in a right relationship with God.
It is in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior that we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to seek support from your local church, Christian friends, and family. Do not go through this alone. God's family is there to support you, and you should never feel ashamed to ask for help. Also look for professional Christian counseling to help you through this time. Remember God's promise in Psalm 34:18 Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
Stand strong in your faith, and trust that God has a purpose for you. Take one day at a time, and remember that God's mercies are new every morning. All things work together for the good of those that love God. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
