Let us come together in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up this family that is suffering from addiction problems. We stand on the promise that where two or three are gathered in his name, he is among them (Matthew 18:20, WEB).
Firstly, we must acknowledge that the only way for this family to overcome addiction is through Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God, and it is only by His name that we can be saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12, WEB). Therefore, we pray that each member of this family would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, if they have not already. We pray that they would understand the way, the truth, and the life that is only found in Jesus Christ.
We rebuke the strongholds of addiction that have taken hold of this family. Addiction is not from God, but rather it is a scheme of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10, WEB). We pray that God would defeat their addictions and break the chains that bind them (Isaiah 61:1, WEB). We ask for God's deliverance and healing, knowing that He is the great physician who can make them whole again (Mark 2:17, WEB).
We pray that this family would turn away from worldly things and seek out God's face. We ask that God would give them a spirit of repentance, that they would turn from their wicked ways and live according to His will (2 Chronicles 7:14, WEB). We pray that they would no longer be conformed to this world, but that they would be transformed by the renewing of their minds (Romans 12:2, WEB).
We ask that God would fill this family with His love. We pray that they would know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19, WEB). We ask that God would give them love for one another, that they would be patient and kind, not envious or boastful, not arrogant or rude (1 Corinthians 13:4-5, WEB).
Finally, we commit this family to the Lord, trusting that He is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us (Ephesians 3:20, WEB). We ask this all in Jesus' name, for it is in His name that we have the hope of salvation and the promise of eternal life (John 20:31, WEB).
