2 Corinthians 12
Paul’s Thorn

7
... Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
---------

It was indeed through my weakness that I returned to God, that I came to this site, and that I found a new way of living. My weakness made me refocus my priorities onto God.

God is creating a perfect work inside you. He will not abandoned you! He is faithful!

Amen Brother James. ❤ This one line comes to mind;
There is nothing that happens for us that is bad. All things work for our good in Jesus! Look at everything as good! 👍

We aren't even 100% sure of exactly what the thorn in his side was. Can we re train ourselves to take no thought for ourselves? I did and I'm still doing, at times I start speaking I take no thought for myself over and over! Like memorizing and repeating phrases to learn for a test even though Jesus interceded and took our test for us where now we run behind Him doing our best to follow His Example, His Instructions, Praising Him and Thanking Him the whole way because our faith in Jesus is a necessity for Jesus said be it unto you as you have believed! By Jesus' stripes I am healed! I should already be dead so many times that I may have actually died at least once but because of Jesus I am now risen with Him alive in Him forever more! I have been drowned, oh the accidents I have had getting thrown well over 100 feet having a 4 wheeler land on me, getting hit head on in a car as well as a motorcycle etc, etc where Jesus one day taught me to not think about myself and saved me from every left over tormenting pain in an instant because I did what He instructed me to do, I went to the river and washed, I didn't hesitate, Jesus Himself didn't hesitate to take on being beaten, bruised, whipped and murdered for my healing, for my peace! Oh, I am forever His, I am His puppet! Jesus makes me feel oh so good, oh so blessed words cannot even describe! Even when I think about my past, I take no thought for it and I belong to Jesus past, present and future!

Thank You, Praise You Lord Jesus for Everything You Do, Did and will Do for me! Glory to You Lord Jesus! Glory to Your Name Jesus!

Brother James quote:
"Even when I think about my past, I take no thought for it and I belong to Jesus past, present and future!"

There are so many circumstances that can send a person replaying and reliving his/her past. Anger, regret, unforgiveness, and unresolved issues. In short anguish! They are all detrimental to ones's walk with Jesus. If the Lord is your anchor then give Him your undivided attention. The Master knows what you need today and what needs to be purged. Love yourself with the capital 'L' and forgive yourself. It cleans up the clutter inside you and makes room for Jesus. Placing Jesus first cleans up the clutter.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

You can't truly love thyself if Jesus is not your anchor.

Isaiah 48:10
Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.
- World English Bible

Brother James I stand in agreement with you. But for many letting go of self is a daily process. No matter what Paul's thorn was it was uncomfortable for him but he was resilient and pushed forward . That is my message.

I'm not trying to take from you or your message but what I share is to take no thought for ourselves so that our very thoughts are of Jesus Himself, we are after all one with Him but my question is how do we become more one with Jesus? How do we take Jesus at His Word? I am healed by Jesus' stripes! How does that become so real with me, in me that it is absolute Truth beyond anything? Did Jesus ever say no, not now or wait when anyone was brought to Him for healing? No, Jesus didn't! He said it! He did it! By Jesus' stripes I am healed! Do I believe that? Do I claim that? Do I search any other way? No, I am healed by Jesus' stripes period! What is the only thing that holds me back from that? Myself, my thoughts for myself, my thoughts about it etc yet I am healed by Jesus' stripes! What was Paul's thorn? A messenger of Satan, more likely a person who was causing others doubt yet how do we deal with that? We do the best we can yet we don't have to agree with doubt for I am healed by Jesus' stripes, the strength of Jesus in me is in my joy of Jesus! I count it all as joy in Jesus, in what Jesus did for me! Am I to be beheaded for my belief in Jesus? I say bring it for that will only get me one step closer to Jesus! Am I going to die for my belief in Jesus? I should be dead anyway many times over, I am not only dead with Jesus but I am risen with Jesus as well! There are so many things to increase our strength in Jesus counting everything as joy, dying to ourselves etc. I'm only trying to help you my friend along with anyone who reads what is posted! Glory to You Lord Jesus!

I am healed by Jesus' stripes! I claim that, I see that, I believe that, I know that, I know only that! Thank You, Praise You Lord Jesus for taking on stripes, getting beaten, getting whipped, getting nailed to a cross dying for my peace as well as my healing! Glory to You Lord Jesus!

Praise God Brother James!
I believe that we are saying the same thing from different angles. You are always welcome to expand on the message. Sometimes I will add to clarify what I was saying.

I face obstacles like everyone else. On earth we have to go through them. The only difference is our anchor or Anchor. The uppercase 'a' is the only thing that stands between victory and anguish.
Brother James, Paul had to face a thorn. It really doesn't matter if the thorn was referring to an ailment or a person like Alexander the coppersmith or a demon. Paul had an obstacle presented to him and pleaded with the Lord to remove it on three occasions. But God’s goal was to keep Paul humble.
Through his weakness the Lord gave him strenght.
Paul stood firm in Jesus!
Paul pleaded to God but our Lord had another answer.
Bless you Brother and feel free to keep posting. After all, we're in the Word! ❤

I know you my friend! I know what you are doing, what is going on with you! I know what you need! If I claim the same thing or similar thing it is only for you to get and be closer to Jesus! I am happy that you are somewhat close to Jesus because of circumstances yet we who are in these bodies can always get and be closer to the ONE who made us! :)

I don't believe that Paul needed any healing at all whatsoever because it was after all Paul who reminded us that we are healed by Jesus' stripes! Why would he tell us that Jesus contradicted Himself when Jesus never could do that? Isaiah 53 declares the same truth. I am healed by Jesus' stripes is fulfillment of Old Testament Promise.

I had stated...

Brother James verse 8 and 9 clearly indicates that Paul pleaded with the Lord to remove the thorn but the Lord did not!
We are to face adversity in our lives and Paul is showing us how to handle it. This was a beautiful verse on how to handle adversity. How did you miss this?
Instead, you highlighted your views on healing and not Paul's victory in this verse. You fail to understand the wonderful message (or at least acknowledge it) and you failed to edify.

You then went on and gave a sorrowful and a misleading opinion on my walk with God.
We are to uplift one another. I will never claim to be perfect but God is the only One that truly knows my relationship with Him, not you brother. I would never treat you with the words you served me.

If you feel the need to continue this conversation please PM me. Only use this thread to emphasize Paul's tenacity in the above mentioned verses- or something uplifting.
I say everything with Love, holding no grudges

I will private message you my friend, my brother. I didn't mean to be negative in any way nor have what I stated to even seem that way.

Let me ask you this to meditate on while you wait. Are we to follow Paul or Jesus Himself my friend? Keep in mind while yes God/Jesus may have used Paul (in a mighty way) but can God/Jesus actually use you or yes even me to actually get across to each other, to others? Me personally, I am somewhat overwhelmed that God/Jesus would use me for anything. This is an extreme overwhelming in a sense that I don't deserve to see what I see, know what I know kind of thing, I fear God/Jesus, all other fears I ask to leave me many times over in Jesus! Amen! Glory to You Lord Jesus!

I am quite freaked out (in a good, blessed way) myself so it is easy for me to see that I might freak someone else out as well.

This might take me some time so be patient my friend. By the way, I do see you because you share your self my friend, I don't see anything else other than what you have shared.

No worries in Jesus my friend!

Amen, Prophecy, Teaching, Praying in the spirit, interpretation of tongues, quoting scriptures etc doesn't make us mature. It's tested by how we go through the trials and testing of life. The experiences that we all go through are simply to teach us obedience. The ultimate reality is to see whether we will come to the life of submission. But whatever the experience we go through God's grace is always sufficient, there, to see us through. To hear and obey the voice of God
