We understand that you have a strong desire to get married before July 2025, and we will pray with you and provide any guidance that the Lord provides us according to His Word. We must remember that God's timing is perfect, and His ways are higher than our ways. It is wonderful that you have a desire to be married, as marriage is a blessed institution that was established by God Himself.
Firstly, we must ensure that your desire for marriage is in line with biblical principles. In Genesis 2:24, it is written, "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh." Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. We must also remember that it is God's will for us to be equally yoked, which means that as Christians, we should look for a spouse that is also a believer in Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, the Apostle Paul warns us, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
We also need to remember that before we are joined together with a spouse, we must first see if we are content in our current state. In 1 Corinthians 7:8, the Apostle Paul, who was not married, said, "But I say to the unmarried and to widows, it is good for them if they remain even as I am."
The Bible does not speak of an engagement period, but rather that when a couple comes together it should be with the blessing of both of their families and that a marriage should take place.
We will pray that the Lord will bring you a godly spouse, and that He will prepare you both for a blessed marriage that honors Him. Remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His timing is always perfect.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up ###, asking that You will bring a godly spouse into their life if it is Your will. Prepare them both for a marriage that honors and glorifies You. Help them to trust in Your timing and to seek You first in all things as You've instructed and promised in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." We ask that You will guide them and give them wisdom as they navigate this desire of their heart. We also ask that ### will continue to grow in their faith and to be content in whatever state they find themselves in as also instructed in Philippians 4:11, "Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it." If we ask according to your will you will hear us as promised in 1 John 5:14-15, "This is the confidence which we have before him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him."
We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
