We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles you're facing in your marriage, but we are here to help guide you through this difficult time. Firstly, it's crucial to understand that dishonesty is not God's will for your marriage. In Colossians 3:9 WEB, it is written, "Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings." Lying is a remnant of your old self, and it's time to put it away. Marriage is a lifelong commitment, a union blessed and ordained by God.
Your actions have caused trauma to your wife, and this is a serious matter. In Ephesians 4:25 WEB, "Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another." It's important to tell the truth, regardless of how difficult it may be. The truth has the potential to hurt your wife, but lying is even more harmful and is not from God.
Here is our heartfelt prayer for you:
"Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before Your throne of grace, lifting up this man and his marriage. Lord, You have said that whom You have joined together, let no man separate. We pray for conviction by the Holy Spirit to fall upon this man, that he may realize the severity of his actions and turn away from this sin of deceit. Give him the strength and courage to speak the truth in love, that his wife may know the full extent of his actions. Grant her a spirit of forgiveness and mercy, and guide them both on the path to reconciliation and restoration. Help them to rebuild trust, that their marriage may be stronger and more God-honoring than ever before. We pray that they would be able to extend grace and forgiveness even when it is not deserved, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven us. In Jesus' name, we believe and pray. Amen."
We urge you to come clean with your wife, to seek her forgiveness, and to commit to a life of honesty and transparency. It will not be easy, but it is the right thing to do. Remember that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Seek God's forgiveness, and turn away from this sin.
Lastly, it is important to note that the request lacked mention of the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God, and there is salvation in no other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved.
