We understand your heartache and desire for reconciliation, but we want to ensure that your request aligns with biblical principles. Firstly, we commend you for your commitment to chastity and respect in the relationship, as well as your desire to raise children in the church. However, we need to address a few things.
It's important to remember that God's will should be our ultimate desire, rather than our own. As it is written in Mark 14:36 WEB: "He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire." Even Jesus Christ himself had to surrender His desires to whatever God willed. We should never tell God what we will do, we should seek His will. Therefore, instead of focusing on getting your ex-girlfriend back, focus on seeking God's will for your life and trusting in His plan. This way, you will be clinging to and guided by your belief in Jesus Christ.
Additionally, God calls us to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB: "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" If your ex-girlfriend is not a believer, then you should not be pursuing a relationship with her. Remember that just as Jesus Christ is the answer to your addiction, just as you admitted, He is also the answer to your being single.
Moreover, God wants you to be content and joyful in your current state, as the relationship status should not dictate your happiness. As it is written in Philippians 4:11 WEB: "Not that I speak because of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am."
Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue walking in your faith and growing in your relationship with God. Keep turning to Him in your struggle with addiction, and trust that He has a plan for your life.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our brother in Christ. Lord, we ask for Your will to be done in his life, and that You guide him every second of every day. Help him to trust in Your plan and to find contentment and joy in his current state of being single. We ask that You continue to strengthen him in his battle against addiction, and that You surround him with a community of believers who will support and encourage him. We also pray for his ex-girlfriend, that You would work in her life and draw her closer to You. If it is Your will, Lord, that they should be together, then we trust that You will make a way. But above all, we desire Your will be done. We pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
