We are so glad that you have reached out for prayer and support, and that you acknowledged the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. Only Jesus Christ is our savior. Thank you for seeking Him.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging your struggle with alcohol addiction. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 WEB. We must turn to Him in our times of need, and it is clear that you have taken the first step in seeking His help.
In John 8:36 WEB, Jesus says, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. True freedom comes from Jesus Christ, and He can break the chains of any addiction. Know that it is God's will for you to be sober and to live a life free from addiction. Trust in Him, and He will strengthen you. Consider reading and meditating on 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 WEB.
Regarding your son, we will pray that God opens up a door of opportunity for him. Colossians 3:23-24 encourages us, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ. We pray that your son will find work that honors God and brings him fulfillment.
Concerning your wife, we will pray that God softens her heart towards you. Remember Jesus' teaching on marriage in Matthew 19:6, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. We pray that God will bring unity and love to your marriage.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Lord, we ask that You grant them the strength to overcome this battle. Help them to know that You are their refuge and strength, and that they can trust in You at all times Psalm 61:3 WEB.
Father, we also lift up their son to You. We ask that You open up a door of opportunity for him, that he may find a job that honors You and brings him fulfillment.
Lord, we pray for softening of their wife's heart. We ask that You bring unity and love to their marriage, and that Your will be done in their lives.
Finally Lord, continue to forgive them as you already started when they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Give them power from on high with the Holy Spirit to continue living a life that is pleasing to you. This we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to trust in God, to pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and to seek His will for your life. Remember that God loves you and that He is always with you. Do not give up on the wonderful future He has planned for you.
