We understand that you're struggling with substance dependence and are seeking God's help for deliverance. We commend you for recognizing the issue and desiring change. The first step is to acknowledge, as you have, that you need help from God. It is encouraging that you are also pursuing a new job that could improve your circumstances and it is good that you are seeking God's help to change your lifestyle.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is always willing to help us in our times of need. As it says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB:
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
We also need to remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we should honor God with our bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB:
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
We are called to be sober and self-controlled, not dependent on substances. 1 Peter 5:8 WEB:
Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother/sister in need of Your divine intervention. Lord, they have acknowledged their struggle with drug use and their desire to change. We pray, Father, that You would grant them the strength and courage to overcome this addiction. Help them to see that their body is Your temple, and guide them towards a life of sobriety and self-control.
Father, we also pray for their upcoming drug test and job opportunity. We ask that You would have mercy and grace on them, and that Your will be done in this situation. Help them to trust in You, and not in substances, for their strength and comfort.
We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
Remember, God is faithful and will provide a way out of temptation. Trust in Him, seek His strength, and consider connecting with a local church or Christian support group to help you overcome this struggle. God does not want us to battle alone.
We noticed that the request does not mention Jesus Christ. You should know that It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is by His death and resurrection that we are saved and have access to God and forgiveness of Sins. As it says in John 14:6: Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. God is the ultimate source of our help and strength, but it is only through Jesus Christ, His son, that we can approach God the Father.
