Beloved of All
In order for things to get better, sometimes they have to get worse. This article explains it far better then I ever could: http://www.jameswatkins.com/astonishing/.You pray, and things actually get WORSE!
Yes, He could thwart the Devil. But there are times when God will allow the Devil to attack us, as a test of our dedication and faith. Look at Job.!You can't just say it's the devil with a "comeback", because if God is more powerful,He could thwart the devil.
And the LORD said unto Satan, "Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" (Job 1:8)
Then Satan answered the LORD, “Does Job fear God for nothing? “Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. “But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.” Then the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD. (Job 1:9-12)
God allowed Satan to test Job, a good and righteous man. Things got so bad for Job that his own wife said, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. (Job 2:9)
But Job kept on believing, trusting in God. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. (Job 13:15)
That doesn't mean that Job didn't despair. Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: (Job 23:8-9)
But Job kept on believing, no matter what the Devil threw at him. And God rewarded him for his faith. Also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. (Job 42:10)
Was it easy? No. But the life of a Christian rarely is. But no matter what happens, or what the Devil throws at us, we know that God is in control, and that He loves us.
I am praying for you my friend! GBY!
