Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
God has finished the work. Our part is to take the word of God and agree with him by thanking him.
Father thank you for your love for Ben. God is not angry with Ben, He is not punishing him (if that is what you or anyone else thinks). The moment Ben was born again, he was made the righteousness of God in Christ. It might be good for Ben to start agreeing with God and saying "I am the righteousness of God in Christ. thank you God for saving me and delivering me."
It's not about "trying" but simply being a "son" of God.
Father, thank you for loving Ben and for Your hand upon his life. You have forgiven him all his iniquities, healed all his diseases, redeemed his life from destruction, crowning him with loving kindness and tender mercies. you fill his mouth with good and renew his youth as the eagles.
I ask that you reveal to Ben great and mighty things he does not know, open his understanding to your word. Baptize him with Holy Spirit and with power. Thank you, In Jesus name. Amen.
