How can we hear the voice of the Lord?

When we are going through a hard time, through trials and tribulations, pain and sorrow has filled our body and soul, then, Jesus comes along and speaks to us...

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.
Psalm 46.12

It is in stillness of our life we can hear clearly the voice of the Lord speaking down deep in our soul. Not in busyness and lack of time to wait for the Lord to speak to us. Besides being still, the Lord will speak to us through a friend who will come in and give us word of comfort and help. Our pastor, a brother or a sister in Christ will come in to our life and let us know how much God cares for us.

And the word of the Lord came to him. What are you doing here Elijah?
I Kings 19.9

But I am just a puny and selfish person, how can You speak to me, and let my know how great and wonderful You are? He is preparing us to be His temple where praise and worship exists all the time. May we be used by Him in small or great ways to teach Your grace and glory that was revealed to us by Your word.

O the glory of Your presence.
We Your temple give You reverence.
So arise to Your rest.
And blessed by our praise.
As we glory in Your embrace.
As Your presence now fills this place.

Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms.

By walking in the love of the Lord we can always hear His voice saying to all of us. I have loved you with an everlasting love. I care for you. Wonderful words to hear from God.

I've been a faith walker for many years, but I want to know how I can hear from the Lord, will He answer if I call out to Him, I mean I've had prayers answered, I've had what I thought was the Lord speaking inside of me, or it may have been Holy Spirit, and also through others. But I yearn for a stronger and deeper relationship and seek to hear from my Father and Christ and the Holy Spirit. Any scripture or advice, please?

Here are some scriptures and advice that might help:

1. **Prayer and Listening**:
- James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing."

2. **Seeking God's Presence**:
- Psalm 27:8: "Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident."
- Matthew 6:6: "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

3. **Understanding the Holy Spirit**:
- John 14:26: "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
- Romans 8:26-27: "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God."

4. **Building a Deeper Relationship**:
- Hebrews 10:22: "Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."
- 1 John 1:3: "What we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ."

5. **Advice**:

Just open up the Bible and start reading. Read the New Testament then read the Old Testament. Ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you, to talk to you, to lead you. The Bible is All Truth. I have read the King James Version and I use the Strongs Concordance as well as search things online followed by KJV. Finding God isn’t necessarily a quick thing to do although He is our Habitation, our Dwelling Place. We are all in Him and we are all made up of Him but the only thing missing from most is His Holy Spirit.

There is so much I could share with you but God talks to All of us through His Word.

Call unto Me.. says the Lord. I will answer thee. Jeremiah 33:3 God will speak to you in the still small voice just as He spoke to Elijah the prophet. He loves you and cares for you. Keep calling on Jesus and He will certainly answer your prayer. Amen
