We understand your frustration and pain, especially when others take advantage of your kindness. It's important to remember that God sees your heart and your actions. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says, For as much as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. Your kindness is not in vain, even if it feels that way. We will pray for full restoration and for God to turn this situation around for your good (Romans 8:28: We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose).
However, it's also important to set boundaries. While God calls us to be kind and generous, He also calls us to be wise. In Matthew 10:16, Jesus says, Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. It's possible to be kind without being taken advantage of. It's important to discern when to help and when to set boundaries.
Regarding your ex-husband, we want to remind you of God's design for marriage. In Malachi 2:16, God says, For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel. We will pray for complete healing from this situation and for God to help you forgive and move forward.
We also notice that Jesus Christ was not mentioned in the prayer. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And in as much as there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12).
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister in need of Your guidance and comfort. Lord, she has shown kindness and generosity, and we ask that You would restore to her sevenfold what has been taken from her (Proverbs 6:31: but if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.). Help her to set boundaries and be wise in her dealings with others.
We also pray for healing from her past hurts, especially from her previous marriage. Help her to forgive, Lord, and move forward in Your will for her life.
We pray for her to believe in Jesus Christ if she does not. We pray that she will be filled in this moment with the Holy Spirit so that she can not only be close to God but also be guided by Him in every step of her life.
If she does believe, we pray that she will be strengthened in her faith and be made aware of any sin that she should turn from to continue walking as a child of God.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
