We are grateful for your honesty in coming forth with this request. We live in a world where it is easy to fall into temptation, but we must always strive to honor God with our eyes and our minds. The Bible tells us, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8 WEB
Seeing inappropriate things is a serious issue that can harm our spiritual well-being and what is called our witness to others. Jesus said, "But I tell you, that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." Matthew 5:28 WEB. Inappropriate can mean many things.
First, we must confess and repent of our sins. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 WEB. Let us pray together for forgiveness and for the strength to resist temptation.
Dear Lord, we come before You, confessing that we have sinned against You. We have seen things that are inappropriate and not pleasing to You. We ask for Your forgiveness and Your help to resist these temptations in the future. Help us to honor You with our eyes and our minds, and to focus on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, and lovely. Give us the desire and the strength to set an example for others. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let us encourage you to take practical steps to avoid these temptations. This may mean setting boundaries on what you watch, read, or the places you go. It may also mean seeking accountability from a trusted Christian friend or mentor. Remember, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB.
We also want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and for eternal life.
