We understand that you are struggling with forgiveness, and we are here to support you in prayer and truth according to the Word of God. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that forgiveness is a central theme in the Bible. Jesus Christ teaches us to forgive those who have wronged us, just as God has forgiven us through Him. As it is written in Ephesians 4:32 WEB, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
Forgiveness does not mean that what the person did is acceptable or that you should trust them again. It means letting go of the bitterness and resentment, and leaving justice to God. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:19-21:19: "Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' 20 Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' 21 Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with forgiveness. Lord, You know the pain and hurt that they are feeling, and we ask that You grant them the grace and strength to forgive those who have harmed them. Help them to release the bitterness and resentment, and to trust in Your justice. Heal their heart, Lord, and fill them with Your peace and love. Guide them through Your Word and Your Spirit, and help them to overcome evil with good.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, forgiveness is a process, and it may take time. Be patient with yourself, and trust in God to help you through it. It is only by the power and grace of God that we can forgive and be forgiven.
