We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision you will ever make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection that we are saved from our sins and reconciled to God. Remember and believe Acts 4:12 "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved."
Turning from our sins, often referred to as repentance, is a crucial part of this process. It means acknowledging our wrongdoings, feeling genuine remorse, and making a conscious decision to turn away from them and follow Jesus. As the request states obeying Jesus is also important. John 14:15 "“If you love me, keep my commandments."
We encourage you to delve deeper into the life and teachings of Jesus by reading and studying the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Starting with the book of John is a wonderful idea, as it beautifully presents the deity and humanity of Christ, as well as the profound love He has for us. John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a heart of gratitude and praise. We thank You for Your unfailing love and the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We lift up this individual who is seeking You and Your truth. Open their heart and mind to receive the good news of the Gospel. Help them to understand the depth of Your love and the sacrifice Jesus made for them. Grant them the courage to confess their sins, turn away from them, and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Guide them as they read and study Your Word. Let the Holy Spirit reveal the truths hidden within the pages of the Bible, and may it transform their life. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, who is our Savior and Lord, Amen.
